Language & Cultural Immersion Programs Are you between 13 and 17 and have a passion for foreign languages and culture? If so, we have an overseas program for you! Let us find the program that fits your needs.
Teenagers with little to no Spanish experience are welcome to enroll as are teens with extensive Spanish training. The main goal of this program, along with having fun, is to encourage the student to function speaking Spanish in a real-world environment.
As with many university students, a great number of teenager students have studied Spanish for years and still cannot speak or understand the language. The curriculum for teens addresses this problem first by placing students in classes with others having the same level of functional Spanish proficiency. Then, an extensive review of material previously studied is conducted in a manner that promotes speaking the language as opposed to merely completing exercises and drills. The small group size, maximum of five students per instructor, fosters participation by each student and bolsters their confidence by using Spanish to communicate their ideas, needs and emotions. Classes are held from 9:00 to 1:00 daily and there is at least one excursion per week where students travel as a group to a local point of interest.
The college also attempts to introduce students to San Miguel de Allende teenagers.
Course methodology
Our course is designed to ensure that students enjoy their Spanish classes as much as they enjoy the rest of the course programme. Classroom activities are therefore varied and where possible involve tasks or games that make the learning process interesting and fun.
The aim of the course is to develop the students’ language skills in all areas but the emphasis is on developing speaking and comprehension skills, so there are a lot of practical activities that involve a great deal of interaction.
As we have students of many nationalities, it is relatively easy to ensure that everyone uses Spanish to communicate.
•Allows opportunity to practice Spanish in real-life situations
•Focuses on your teen’s listening and conversational skills
•Tailored around your teen’s interests, level and particular needs.
•Uses exclusive age-appropriate learning materials

SPANISH LANGUAGE CLASSES
High school students enroll in the same intensive Spanish classes as other students. Class-time emphasis is placed on the development of communication skills, and instructors stress speaking in this week long program, with teachers escorting students to nearby locations (the post office, grocery store, restaurants, etc.) for the purpose of building vocabulary and encountering new learning situations.
Small groups immersion Program for Teenagers
The Small Group Immersion Program is the most popular program because of its dynamics and economics. The main objective of the Small Group Immersion Program is to develop verbal communication and critical listening skills.
A variety of hands-on and highly interactive methods are used to cultivate motivation, self-confidence and enjoyment. Success is measured by the student’s ability to complete the communication loop in Spanish.
Class instruction is limited to a maximum of five students. The small group size assures individual participation and allows for personal attention from the instructor.
Classes meet Monday through Friday throughout the year from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
Students in the Small Group Immersion Program can study for as short a time as a single week or take courses for 5 and 10 weeks at discount rates. The Centro Mexicano is flexible in accommodating your busy schedule.
Class schedules are flexible. We offer diverse programs and the opportunity to design your own Schedule. Students may also choose to supplement their group classes with additional private lessons.
Our Spanish classes usually consist of 3 to 4 students, and never more than six. This intimate class size helps us tailor our programs to your specific needs and to adapt our teaching methodology to your learning style.
You will be placed in classes to your Spanish proficiency level, which is determined by a written test and oral evaluation exam before starting your course. Your level will be confirmed by your instructor based on your performance during the class.
Throughout your course your progress will be assessed daily by your teacher and our Academic Director. Every day instructors hand in a progress report for each student in the class. This information helps our Academic director determine and decide the appropriate steps for reaching his/her language goals.
Private Immersion Program
The Private Immersion Program is the most flexible program. It features daily one-on-one instruction. Most students choose to study Monday though Friday, however the Private Immersion Program also allows students to design their own schedule; including weekends. Students also may choose to study the days that best meet their schedule. Weekend and daily Private Immersion Program courses are offered throughout the year.
A program that includes four hours of core curriculum followed by two hours of afternoon activities is recommended. However, it is the student who ultimately decides how the day is structured and what is studied. Some students may prefer a more rigid program of exercises and drills while others elect to focus strictly on conversation.
A specialized academic agenda incorporating terminology specific to a field of interest can also be implemented. Individual instruction means students may choose to go as rapidly or slowly as they desire.
